Me in Art History - Second Grade
Student Teaching Lincoln Elementary and Willard Elementary, 2010
Second grade students examined ancient Egypt through their artistic artifacts. Students painted cartouches of their initials on imitation papyrus paper and created relief tile fragments of themselves doing their favorite activity. This exploration will enhance the students’ understanding of preexisting cultures as well as better understand their own.

My World - Fourth Grade
Student Teaching Lincoln Elementary and Willard Elementary, 2010
Students created a batik of their favorite location in the Oak Park and River Forest area as means of better understanding their community and cultural practice. During this time students became in connection with students in South Africa via photographs, letters and artwork. The students learned about these children as individuals, a community and as means of better understanding themselves. The students learned to use art as a communication tool and enhance that communication through skill building and practice.
