ART 2750C
A studio based introductory course that teaches ceramic art through techniques of handforming.
Trophy/monument
This assignment uses the idea of trophy or monument to create sculpt that communicates something about an accomplishment or victory. It can be something specific to the individual, community, or to mankind.
Attraction/Repulsion
Art can convey emotion. The way we render and decorate a work of art can communicate our intentions to the viewer. Students will choose an object about which they feel strongly be it attraction or repulsion, love or hate, compassion or apathy and use design elements, color, symbolism and form to let the viewer in on what they are feeling.
Contemporary Cup set
Students will create set of functional cups with a tray that are a reflection of current times. They can relate to people, places or things. The cups can be split into more than one set with a tray for each set.
Lidded Containers: Precious Contents
Jars are typically made to contain substances and objects. For the conceptual aspect of this exploration, students considered memories, values, and/or objects that are important to them. The students made lidded containers to hold these items, whether tangible or intangible and the contents of the jars will be expressed visually through their design.
